FUFA Suspends 3 Buhimba United Saints Players Over Alleged Match-Fixing

The Investigatory Chamber of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Committee has provisionally suspended three players of Buhimba United Saints FC for 90 days following allegations of match manipulation linked to betting activities.

The decision stems from an ongoing investigation into the Uganda football match between Lugazi FC and Buhimba United Saints FC, played on 8 November 2025 at Lugazi Stadium, which ended in a 5–2 victory for Lugazi FC. According to information gathered so far, investigators believe the match may have been deliberately manipulated for betting purposes.

Following receipt of intelligence pointing to irregularities surrounding the fixture, the Investigatory Chamber opened a formal inquiry. Preliminary findings suggest potential involvement of three Buhimba United Saints players, prompting the opening of disciplinary proceedings for a possible breach of Article 43 of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code, which prohibits the manipulation of football matches or competitions.

As a result, the Chairperson of the Investigatory Chamber, acting under Section 78 of the FUFA Ethics and Disciplinary Code, imposed provisional suspensions to safeguard the integrity of the competition while investigations continue.

The players sanctioned are:

• Ayebale Moses

• Dudu Ramathan

• Nkata Fred

Each of the players has been personally notified of the decision, and the suspensions take immediate effect, barring them from all football-related activities for the duration of the provisional ban.

In a further development, FUFA confirmed that the alleged conduct may also constitute a violation of the criminal provisions of the National Sports Act. Consequently, the matter will be formally reported to the Uganda Police for potential criminal investigation.

FUFA reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on match manipulation, emphasizing that protecting the integrity, credibility, and fairness of football competitions remains a top priority. The federation noted that the provisional suspensions do not constitute a final verdict and that further decisions will be made once the investigation is concluded.

The case adds to growing concerns globally about match-fixing and betting-related corruption in football, with FUFA joining other football governing bodies in strengthening oversight and enforcement mechanisms to combat the vice.
