The FUFA Drum competition resumes this weekend with Match Day Three, as provincial teams across the country return to action in pursuit of crucial points, pride and progression in the prestigious tournament.
Match Day Three will feature four fixtures, scheduled for Saturday, 20th December and Sunday, 21st December 2025, with all matches kicking off at 4:00 PM at different venues around the country. With the group stages beginning to take shape, this round of matches is expected to significantly influence the standings.
One of the standout fixtures will see Lango Province travel to Ankole Province on Sunday, 21st December 2025, at Kakyeeka Stadium in Mbarara. Both sides go into the encounter searching for their first win of the campaign, making it a high-stakes contest in Group B.
Lango are coming off a goalless draw at home against Buganda Province at Apac Boma Ground earlier in the year. Buganda, the group leaders, had previously drawn 3–3 at home against Ankole Province. As a result, Lango and Ankole are level on one point apiece, just one point behind Buganda, who have collected two points from two matches. Both Lango and Ankole have so far played only one game each.
However, Lango will face a major test in Mbarara without three of their star players. Allan Okello, Denis Omedi and Herbert Achai will once again miss out, as they remain on national duty with the Uganda Cranes in preparation for AFCON 2025. Despite the absences, Lango will be eager to secure their first victory of the tournament against a winless Ankole side. Ankole, on the other hand, will be without their captain Hillary Mukundane, a notable setback as they seek to capitalize on home advantage.
Action on Match Day Three begins on Saturday, 20th December 2025, when Acholi Province hosts West Nile at Pece Stadium in Gulu. The fixture brings together two sides known for their physical approach and competitive intensity, promising a closely contested encounter as both teams aim to improve their positions.
On the same day, Kigezi Province will face Bunyoro Province at Kabale Municipal Stadium. The high-altitude conditions in Kabale often play a role in shaping matches, and Kigezi will hope to use the environment to their advantage. Bunyoro, however, will be determined to show resilience and tactical discipline in search of a positive away result.
Match Day Three concludes on Sunday, 21st December 2025, with Teso Province taking on Kampala Region at Bukedea Complex Stadium. The clash presents a contrast in styles, with Kampala Region renowned for technical play, while Teso rely heavily on energy, teamwork and strong home support. The result could prove vital for both sides as the competition progresses.
The FUFA Drum continues to serve as a vital platform for football development across Uganda, giving players from different regions the opportunity to showcase their talent on a national stage and celebrate their ancestry.
Beyond competition, the FUFA Drum promotes unity, regional identity and community engagement through football and celebration of ancestry. Each match represents a celebration of local pride, drawing together fans, leaders and young players inspired by the honor of representing their ancestral Provinces.
As anticipation builds ahead of Match Day Three, football lovers across the country can expect another exciting chapter in the FUFA Drum, with crucial points and momentum firmly on the line.
