UGX 1m Fine, Suspension: Okello Disciplined by PBA

Paidha, Uganda – January 6, 2026

‎Paidha Black Angels Football Club have suspended forward Elio Okello from all club engagements until January 18, 2026, citing continued acts of indiscipline marked by persistent absenteeism from training sessions and failure to report for official club duties during away fixtures.

‎In a statement issued by the club, management confirmed that Okello has also been fined UGX 1,000,000 (One Million Uganda Shillings), a penalty that will be recovered from his sign-on fee or any outstanding salary arrears should he fail to pay directly.

‎The suspension follows what the club describes as the latest and most serious incident, which occurred during Paidha Black Angels’ away fixture against Kigezi HomeBoyz in Kabale on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. According to the club, Okello was officially named in the travelling squad for the match but allegedly disappeared without notice upon arrival in Kabale and failed to communicate with club officials despite prior arrangements and clear instructions.

‎“Due to continued act of indiscipline characterised by persistent absenteeism from training sessions and failure to report for club duties,” the club suspension letter partly reads, adding that this incident was part of a pattern of repeated misconduct.

‎The disciplinary action was formally communicated to the player in a suspension letter dated January 4, 2026, authored by the club’s Chief Executive Officer, Yahya Bakhit. In the letter, management emphasized that the measures taken were in line with club regulations and aimed at maintaining discipline, professionalism, and respect for team commitments.

‎Paidha Black Angels further warned that any future breach of club rules by the player could attract more severe sanctions.

‎Efforts by this website to obtain a response from Elio Okello regarding the suspension and fine were unsuccessful, as his known contacts were unreachable by press time.

‎The development comes at a critical period for Paidha Black Angels as they seek stability and consistency within the squad amid ongoing league commitments.
